Safety
At Flagstaff Design & Construction, Inc, we recognize that safety is central to the success of our projects and the longevity of the firm. Our safety record is virtually unmatched in the industry. While any Experience Modification Factor (EMOD) under 1.00 is generally considered very good and qualifies contractors to work for owners who select only safe contractors, our EMOD has remained under 0.76 for the past five years, and currently stands at 0.71. We take the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration very seriously, and train our superintendents in OSHA compliance to avoid citations and fines. In addition, we routinely exceed the minimum requirements of OSHA. As an example, the project in the photo above is a re-roofing project on an existing high school with a 26' eave height. While OSHA and the school district would require only that the workmen be tied-off, we chose to install a fully-planked scaffold with guardrails and toeboards 2' below the eaves. This investment in safety has paid large dividends in productivity, and this is a highly visible statement of our commitment to safety to all involved in this project. We have also developed safety and hazardous material communication manuals to guide our field personnel in making the workplace as safe as possible and to verify compliance with applicable federal, state, and tribal laws. For those who need to evaluate our safety and haz-com manuals, please contact Mike Atkin at (928) 774-5097. |
