The Cameron Trading Post was a $2.5 million motel, restaurant and retail complex. The site is situated on the canyon of the Little Colorado River, 55 miles north of Flagstaff. The Post has been a family business trading with the Navajo people since the turn of the century. The road was paved in the early thirties and tourist trade has grown with visitations to the Grand Canyon National Park increasing over the years. Great care was taken to keep the character of the old west with the new construction. Exterior facings were done in cultured stone, custom made to match native stone. The new construction consisted of forty-eight guest rooms, a state of the art kitchen, restaurant, laundry, and retail store. All rooms were done in custom decor, including imported Mexican ceramic tile and custom furnishings made on site. |
